It is advisable to have haemodialysis the day before you fly and to book a treatment for the day after you arrive. Check with each airline regarding regulations for taking medications and injections on board. We have produced a quick reference guide to help you plan dialysis sessions while on holiday. Open the reference guide here.

Haemodialysis sessions can be booked in a number of different locations

Private temporary dialysis sessions can be arranged but you will need to book well ahead of your travel dates. There is a minimum of at least one month’s notice and session fees may apply.

If available, a private dialysis session costs approximately $450 to $650 per treatment in South Australia - and $800 to $900 per treatment in other states, depending on location.

It is essential to book in advance - no guarantees space will be available - click links in red below. Session fees may apply for private units listed.

Kidney Health Australia Dialysis Unit Guide

Medicare funded public and private dialysis units may also offer dialysis if they have an available chair. To locate a map of all Australian dialysis units, check our Dialysis Unit Guide here.
