In memory of David Morgan

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to David Morgan, a beloved member of the Kidney Health Australia community. David was appointed to the Board in December 2014 and served as Chair of the Board from March 2016 - December 2017.

David's contributions to the fight against kidney disease and to Kidney Health Australia were immeasurable. He brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the organisation, having retired from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2014 and having served overseas as a diplomat, representing Australia in international trade and environment organisations. His policy experience included helping to develop Australia's gene technology regime and other health and safety issues.

In addition to his work with Kidney Health Australia, David was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Melbourne from 2004-2009 and was the author/co-author of several books and journal articles on the legal, economic and political aspects of biotechnology and other trade and environment issues. He was also the Chair of the Emorgo Foundation, a Director of the Victorian Bridge Association and a Councilor of the Australian Bridge Federation. The Emorgo Foundation has contributed significantly to the Kidney Transplant House Program and many other research projects over the years.

David's own personal experience with kidney disease added a unique perspective to his work with our organisation. He received a kidney from his father in 1989, and his passion for improving the lives of those living with kidney disease was evident in everything he did.

David will be deeply missed by me personally, the Board, and the Kidney Health Australia community. David’s legacy will however live on through the work that he accomplished and the people he impacted.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Chris Forbes,

CEO
