We aim to publish research factsheets, establish kidney research register, provide training to people living with kidney disease and their carers, and create database that can match kidney community needs to the research.

About clinical trialsThe Better Evidence And Translation for Calciphylaxis (BEAT-Calci) study aims to find the best treatments for a condition called calciphylaxis. Calciphylaxis is a rare disease, involving painful skin wounds, that occurs in some people with end-stage kidney disease. Currently available treatments have not been fully studied yet, so doctors caring for patients with calciphylaxis are unsure what the most effective treatments are and so do not know how best to care for patients. The trial uses a new design to tests multiple treatments at once and does not stop until we have an answer to the question. This makes discovering the best treatment quicker and more reliable. Patients that participate in BEAT-Calci will receive treatment over a period of 26 weeks, with initial treatments including drugs or new dialysis technology. The researchers will look at whether participants receiving treatment have an improved calciphylaxis outcome, which will be measured by an assessment of the skin wound. The BEAT-Calci Consumer and Community Advisory Committee (CCAC) has been developed to facilitate links with the kidney community and will work with the BEAT-Calci research team to make sure the study is designed appropriately, and that the study information and its results are communicated appropriately to consumers and the wider community. The CCAC is established but is looking for additional members.

Learn MoreThis is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel groups, multicenter pivotal study assessing the efficacy and safety of 15 mg twice a day (BID) of SER150 in well-controlled adult type 2 diabetic patients with stable concomitant medications, diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and albuminuria in treatment with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) or an angiotensin receptor antagonist (ARB). Number of Participants: Assuming a maximum 10% drop-out rate, up to 110 participants will be randomly assigned to study intervention and to achieve 100 evaluable participants for an estimated total of 50 evaluable participants per intervention group. Intervention Groups and Duration: Both the randomized arms will have a treatment period of 24 weeks (dosing period) followed by 4 weeks follow up. Patients will receive investigational medicinal product (IMP) orally (15 mg SER150 or placebo) BID (a single dose will be administered on Day 1). The time difference between the two daily doses will be every 12 hours.

The research study will evaluate the effectiveness of the program in supporting people to self-manage their conditions. You may be eligible for the study if you are an adult (18+ years) diagnosed with early to mid-stage CKD (Stages 1-4) within the past 12 months (from time of enrolment), or an adult (18+ years) who has commenced dialysis (both PD and HD) in the past 12 months (from time of enrolment.)
Learn MoreThe ARO-C3 study is sponsored by Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is developing ARO-C3 to treat complement-mediated renal diseases (C3G and IgA Nephropathy). ARO-C3 works by blocking production of the complement component 3 (C3) protein in the liver. C3 plays a role in activating the complement cascade in the body's immune system, which can lead to kidney injury from excessive or unsuitable activation of the complement system. ARO-C3 will be administered by subcutaneous injection on Days 1, 29 and 113 of the study.
Learn MoreWe invite patients and family members with a background of genetic kidney disease to participate in a focus group research study which aims to hear your perspectives on ways we can improve the model of care in genetic kidney disease. The findings from this study will help to inform strategies to address patient/family information, decision-making and support needs. Participation in this research is voluntary, and the information you give will be kept confidential, and will not affect the care you receive in any way. The focus group will be conducted online on a video-conferencing platform. Overall, this will take 1 hour 30 minutes, which includes a 10-minute break in the middle.
Learn MoreProject Summary This project aims to explore how kidney transplantation shapes the lived experience of pediatric kidney transplant recipients aged 16-30 as they transition to adulthood and adult care with the assistance of Adelaide’s youth transition services and the programs offered by Kidney Health Australia. Using the ethnographic method, this project intends to provide richly descriptive examples of how the youth transition process fits into the lives of participants, incorporating social and cultural factors such as ethnicity and gender into analysis. This will be achieved through three stages of research taking place over 1 year to 18 months, including: 1. Initial interviews with recipients, their parents/caregivers, treatment providers and relevant stakeholders at Kidney Health Australia 2. Participant observation in clinic and at Kidney Health Australia events 3. Participant observation in the homes of recipients (and parents/caregivers when relevant) during activities related to treatment, including informal interviewing
