Mark's Story

Every day is a good day. Because you never know what's going to happen.

Mark was 33, fit and healthy with a challenging career in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and a great family life when at a routine medical he was told that he had kidney disease and eventually his kidneys would fail.

Mark’s experience with kidney disease has taken him through a huge range of emotions, from disbelief and denial, to hope and to enormous gratitude.

His journey from diagnosis to dialysis to transplant has been a rollercoaster, full of anxiety and emotion.

Thankfully, because of the support of donors, when he reached out to Kidney Health Australia, he was able to find support, trusted information and be matched with a Kidney Buddy.

With your help, we can continue to be there to support more people impacted by kidney disease with targeted services and programs at every stage - from awareness to diagnosis, treatment, transplant and beyond.
