Primary care

Kidney Health Australia has been providing accredited education to primary care health professionals since 2001. Our education is focused on the detection and management of kidney disease, as well as the link between kidney disease and other chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

All education activities are governed by an expert committee, called the Primary Care Education Advisory Committee for Kidney Health Australia (PEAK). This committee is comprised of prominent kidney specialists, general practitioners, primary healthcare nurses, educators, a renal nurse, a pharmacist and consumers.

Continuing Professional Development

Kidney Health Australia education is accredited / endorsed for continuing professional development (CPD) with the following organisations:

  • Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)*
  • Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
  • Australian Primary healthcare Nurses Association (APNA)
  • National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers Association (NATSIHWA)

*Kidney Health Australia is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) education provider under the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) CPD program.

Health professionals can access our online primary care education for free either from our webinar program. If you do not already have a profile, you will need to create one to begin.

To participate in, or organise face-to-face or digital training sessions in your local area, please email our team at primarycare@kidney.org.au.
We coordinate our sessions by collaborating with local health organisations, primary care networks and renal healthcare teams.

To further complement our training, Kidney Health Australia offers a range of tools, resources and guidelines.
