Alison's Story

People just don't understand kidney disease. But it could be the most important conversation you ever have.

Show your support today

When Alison woke one morning, she had gained 10 kilos overnight. Her face was swollen, her body was filled with fluid, and within hours she was hearing words she never expected:

You’re in acute renal failure.

At just 41, Alison was fit, active and healthy. She had no family history of kidney failure and had never even needed a regular doctor. Overnight, everything changed.

As she searched for answers, Alison found something just as important – support.

Through Kidney Health Australia’s Kidney Buddy Program, she connected with Lesley, someone who had first-hand experience of kidney failure.

“Lesley became an incredible source of support,” Alison says. “She was kind, compassionate and truly understood what I was going through.”

Thankfully, early detection, a timely diagnosis and the right treatment helped save Alison’s kidneys.

But not everyone is as fortunate.

Too many Australians don’t realise they have kidney disease until it’s too late. That’s why raising awareness, encouraging earlier detection and providing trusted support has never been more important.

You can help change that.

Your generous gift today will help more Australians understand their kidney health, access life-changing support programs like Kidney Buddy, and receive the information they need to face kidney disease with confidence.

Please donate today and help create better kidney health for all Australians.
