Kidney Helpline

Our Kidney Helpline provides free support and information for anyone who has questions or concerns about their kidney health or kidney disease diagnosis. In a medical emergency please call triple zero (000).

Operating hours: 9am-5pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time), Monday-Friday. Closed for public holidays.

Voicemail service available after hours or if the line is busy, simply leave a message at the prompt and we will respond within 2 business days.

Anyone can call the Kidney Helpline including families, carers, students, healthcare professionals and researchers. We can assist you with accessing information and support regarding the following:

Please note: The Kidney Helpline is a confidential service that provides general kidney health information, free resources and aims to connect you to a range of support services. Please note we are not able to provide individual counselling or crisis support. For legal reasons, we do not provide medical advice or the interpretation of any test results (e.g. pathology and bloods, medical images or scans) and we recommend that you consult with your treating doctor.

Your GP or Nephrologist may make a referral to a renal dietitian. The Dietitians Association of Australia can provide names and contact details of local renal dietitians. Call 1800 812 942 or visit and then ask your doctor to arrange a referral to your preferred dietitian.
