Priscilla Kincaid-Smith Research Foundation

The Priscilla Kincaid-Smith Kidney Research Foundation has been established by Kidney Health Australia to promote kidney research to save and improve the lives of Australians with kidney disease.

A medical pioneer and an incredible and inspirational woman, Professor Kincaid-Smith, who was one of the founders of Kidney Health Australia, is best remembered for her many outstanding clinical and scientific achievements and her care for her patients. Her research significantly contributed to identifying the link between the kidneys and high blood pressure – a key public health message being conveyed to the Australian community by Kidney Health Australia today.

She was the first woman to be appointed a Professor at the University of Melbourne and became President of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, the International Society of Nephrology, and the World Medical Association.
